What is laser therapy for smoking cessation?

Laser therapy uses low level lasers to target specific acupuncture points on the body thought to be related to addiction, metabolism and stress. The laser is pointed at spots on the face, hands and wrist, with the aim of relieving withdrawal symptoms and preventing cravings. The laser supposedly stimulates the nerve endings to tell the brain to release a flood of endorphins. The treatment also targets other points that are thought to suppress appetite to help prevent weight gain with quitting smoking and to promote relaxation.
