Quit Q&A

Need help?

What should I do on Quit Day?

Log into QuitNet and take the daily pledge to not smoke. Connect with someone online or at home for support. Some people like to write about their feelings; perhaps write a good-bye letter to your cigarettes. Do something special for yourself - e.g. buy some flowers, plan to cook or go out to eat with friends, rent a movie you've always wanted to see, or take a long walk. It will get easier as you practice. Here is a tip for an easy way to manage stress: take a deep breath, slowly counting to ten for each inhale and exhale, clenching your fists for a count of five and then shaking out your hands several times to let go of frustration. Do this several times, followed by a few slow and calming breaths.

QuitNet can really help. When you feel like lighting up, post in the main feed, and tag it with 'craving'. Since most cravings last less than 5 minutes, a short distraction is all you need. Wait for other members to respond. Connecting with others can keep you motivated and accountable for your quit. You CAN do this. Good luck!
