Quit Q&A

Need help?

Can the QuitNet help me quit smokeless tobacco?

While there may be differences between quitting smoking and quitting oral tobacco use, the principles involved in quitting both are the same: gaining awareness of the tobacco addiction; asking for help and connecting with other tobacco quitters; planning a quit strategy and following a plan; developing and maintaining a support network; and dealing with emotional/behavioral issues as they arise. QuitNet provides resources to meet all those needs. The US Dept of Health and Human Services states in its 2000 Clinical Practice Guideline: Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence, “Smokeless tobacco users should be strongly urged to quit, and treated with the same cessation counseling interventions recommended to smokers.”
