Quitting smoking is the number-one thing you can do to improve your health and add years to your life! In the short term, you’ll breathe easier, cough less, and smell so much better. Over time, you’ll significantly lower your risk of lung cancer, heart disease, stroke, COPD, and at least 12 other kinds of cancer. Quitting also protects the people and pets you love from secondhand smoke.
A lot of smokers have personal reasons for quitting, too. Maybe you want to set a good example for someone in your life, or you want to stay healthy as you get older. Thinking about what’s important to you – both now and in the future – can help you decide to become smoke-free.
