When the big day arrives you should have your hard candy, toothpicks, gum, crunchy snacks, and water bottle at the ready. If you’re using medications, put on your nicotine patch right away or take your quit-smoking medication as directed. If you go out, remember to take everything with you. You don’t want to be without any of these!
Today you’ll definitely want to avoid places you used to smoke. Stay away from smokers, if you can. Changing your routine is also really important. If you always smoke in a certain chair, for example, don’t sit there. If you normally take a smoke break at work, plan to do something else.
Go to the QuitNet feed as many times as you need to, and share how you’re feeling. QuitNet members have been there and can offer a lot of support! If you’re hit with a craving, you can post in the feed and use the “Craving” tag. This lets everyone know that you want to smoke and need help right away.
No matter what happens, don't risk your new, smoke-free life! Do whatever it takes to stay away from cigarettes.
